AIIMS Recruitment 2026
The Examination Section of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has released Notice No. 103/2026 dated 24 July 2026 for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) 11. Through this recruitment drive, a total of 2,218 Nursing Officer vacancies have been reported across 27 participating AIIMS and Government medical institutions. The online registration process started on 24 July 2026 and will remain open until 13 August 2026 (5:00 PM).
NORCET is a Common Eligibility Test conducted for recruitment to Nursing Officer posts in participating institutes. AIIMS New Delhi conducts the examination and prepares the merit list, while the final appointment, posting, seniority, and service conditions are decided by the institute allotted to the candidate.
Among all participating institutes, AIIMS Guwahati has announced 188 Nursing Officer vacancies, making it one of the largest contributors in this recruitment.
AIIMS NORCET 11 Recruitment Details

Pay Scale: ₹9,300 – ₹34,800 (Pre-Revised Pay Band-2) with Grade Pay of ₹4,600
Gender Reservation: As per the decision of the Central Institute Body (CIB), 80% of vacancies at participating AIIMS are reserved for female candidates, while 20% are reserved for male candidates.
Important: Candidates who have already completed One Time Registration (OTR) for any previous AIIMS examination must apply using the same OTR ID. Applications submitted with a new registration ID are liable to be rejected.
Educational Qualification
Candidates can apply through either of the following qualification routes.
Route 1 – Degree Qualification
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications from an institute or university recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) or the State Nursing Council.
- B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing
- B.Sc Nursing
- Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing
- B.Sc (Post Certificate)
Along with the qualification, candidates must be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council.
Route 2 – Diploma Qualification
Candidates must possess:
- Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)
- Registration as Nurse & Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital having at least 50 beds
The required experience will be counted only after completion of the GNM course and registration with the Nursing Council. Experience obtained before fulfilling these conditions will not be considered.
In simple terms, B.Sc Nursing candidates with valid Nursing Council registration can apply directly, while GNM candidates must also possess two years of hospital experience as on 13 August 2026.

Age Limit
The prescribed age limit for AIIMS Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 is 18 to 30 years. The age will be calculated as on 13 August 2026, which is the last date for submission of the online application.

For PwBD candidates, the maximum permissible age after relaxation should not exceed 56 years. Central Government Civilian Employees with at least three years of continuous regular service are also eligible for age relaxation as per Government rules. However, this provision is not applicable for AIIMS New Delhi and AIIMS CAPFIMS.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories who apply under the Unreserved (UR) category will not be eligible for any age relaxation.

The application fee must be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or other available online payment modes.
Generally, the application fee is non-refundable. However, SC/ST candidates who appear in the examination will receive a refund of their application fee after declaration of the result and successful verification of their caste certificate.
Important: Candidates should select their category carefully while submitting the application. Once the fee is paid, the category cannot be changed from SC/ST to UR/OBC/EWS or vice versa.
AIIMS NORCET 11 Selection Process
The selection process for AIIMS Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 (NORCET 11) consists of the following stages:
- Stage I – NORCET Preliminary Examination
- Stage II – NORCET Main Examination
- Choice Filling & Seat Allocation
Both Stage I and Stage II are conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. A negative marking of one-third (1/3) mark will be applicable for every incorrect answer. The examinations are conducted in multiple timed sections, and candidates cannot revisit a section once its allotted time is over.
Stage I – NORCET Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening test for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination. Marks obtained in Stage I are not considered while preparing the final merit list.

The examination duration is 90 minutes, divided into five sections of 18 minutes each, with 20 questions in every section.

Merely securing the qualifying percentile does not guarantee selection for Stage II. Candidates up to five times the total notified vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their Stage I performance. All eligible PwBD candidates and candidates tied at the last qualifying rank will also be shortlisted.

The examination consists of case scenario-based Nursing questions covering the complete syllabus prescribed for the essential qualification. The final merit list is prepared only on the basis of Stage II marks.

Tie-Breaking Criteria
In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks in Stage II, the tie will be resolved in the following order:
- Candidate with fewer incorrect answers in Stage II.
- Higher marks in Stage I.
- Candidate with fewer incorrect answers in Stage I.
- Older candidate will be ranked higher.
- Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name.
Choice Filling & Seat Allocation
Candidates qualifying the Main Examination will be invited to submit their Institute Preferences through the online choice filling process.
Seat allotment will be made strictly according to:
- Stage II Merit Rank
- Category
- Institute Preferences
- Availability of Vacancies
Candidates allotted an institute must report and join within the prescribed schedule. Failure to join the allotted institute will result in cancellation of candidature for that NORCET cycle. Normally, only one round of seat allocation is conducted, and no waiting list is maintained.

Candidates are advised to upload images exactly as per the prescribed specifications. Applications with blurred photographs, incorrect signatures, or invalid uploads may be rejected during verification.
Important: Candidates working in Central Government, State Government, Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Semi-Government Organizations, or Government-funded institutions, including contractual employees, must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their present employer on or before 18 August 2026 (5:00 PM). Failure to upload the NOC within the stipulated time may lead to cancellation of candidature.
