RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, have issued Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 03/2026 for the recruitment of Section Controller posts. A total of 119 vacancies have been announced across various Railway Zones. The online application process commenced on 15 July 2026 and will remain open until 14 August 2026.

Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level 6 of the 7th CPC, carrying an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month. Applicants must possess a recognized Graduate Degree and should be 20 to 33 years of age as on 1 July 2026.

A Section Controller is responsible for regulating and monitoring train movements from the divisional control office. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the post, candidates must satisfy the prescribed A-2 Medical Standard, including strict eyesight and vision requirements.

Educational Qualification

Section Controller: Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification on or before 14 August 2026, the last date of application.

Candidates awaiting the final result of their qualifying examination are not eligible to apply.

The refundable amount will be credited only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account after appearing in the CBT, subject to applicable bank charges.

Modification Fee: ₹250 per correction (Non-Refundable)

Payment can be made online using UPI, Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.

Medical Standard & Vision Requirement

The post of Section Controller requires candidates to meet the A-2 Medical Standard, one of the highest medical standards prescribed by Indian Railways.

Candidates must have:

  • Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses
  • Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses
  • Normal Colour Vision
  • Binocular Vision
  • Night Vision
  • Myopic Vision

Important: Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any refractive eye surgery are not eligible for this recruitment.

Candidates must produce the prescribed Vision Certificate (Annexure VI / VI-A) from an Eye Specialist during the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  3. Document Verification
  4. Medical Examination

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

The CBT consists of 100 objective questions carrying 100 marks. The examination duration is 120 minutes.

Negative Marking: 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

The CBT syllabus includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data interpretation, logical reasoning, reading comprehension, coding-decoding, analogy, ranking, series, blood relations, puzzles, and other reasoning topics.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • UR / EWS – 40%
  • OBC-NCL / SC – 30%
  • ST – 25%

2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates up to 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted RRB-wise for the CBAT based on their normalized CBT scores.

The CBAT is conducted only in English and Hindi.

There is no negative marking.

Candidates must obtain a minimum T-Score of 42 in every test battery to qualify. No relaxation is provided in the qualifying T-Score.

3. Document Verification & Medical Examination

The final merit list will be prepared by giving:

  • 70% weightage to CBT marks
  • 30% weightage to CBAT marks

Candidates equal to the notified vacancies will be called for Document Verification, followed by the prescribed Medical Examination.

In case of a tie, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.

  3. Enter your name and date of birth exactly as mentioned in your Matriculation Certificate.
  4. Complete identity verification using DigiLocker or Aadhaar.
  5. Select your preferred RRB and arrange the order of Zone Preferences.
  6. Fill in all personal and educational details carefully.
  7. Capture the live photograph using your webcam or mobile camera.
  8. Upload your signature (JPG/JPEG, 30 KB–49 KB).
  9. SC/ST candidates seeking the free railway travel authority should upload their caste certificate in PDF format (maximum 400 KB).
  10. Pay the application fee online and submit the application.
  11. Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
